Located outside the historical city centre, it is surrounded by beautiful gardens, such as theIndigenous People's Park and the Zhishan Garden!

Inside the museum you will find almost 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artefacts and works of art, making it one of the largest museums in the world. We're talking about the National Taiwan Museum, the oldest museum in Taiwan, established in 1908. Unlike the former, this one is located in the old town and is also easier and quicker to reach. It is also located in the wonderful 2/28 Peace Park, a park full of paths, trees, ponds and monuments.

This museum focuses mainly on the history of Taiwan, allowing visitors to learn about every aspect of the city. It is clear that some sacrifices will have to be made. But in general, there are so many markets that it's impossible to list them all!

Getting aroundTaipei on foot alone is out of the question, as the city is very large indeed! Our advice is to use the metro to reach the various attractions and then move around the neighbourhood on foot!
For a first approach to the city, and if you are short on time, we recommend a guided tour to discover the most important attractions and get on and off when you want.

Travellingby car is really not recommended, but if you don't want to give up the freedom that only this means of transport can offer, hire a car with a private driver for a City Highlights Tour of a few hours!

If you're staying for a few days, it's very useful to buy the Taipei Fun Pass, which is valid for 3 days and allows unlimited travel on Taipei's metro and buses, in addition to entry to 16 of the city's must-see attractions, making getting around really easy!

Taipei is a low-cost destination, but the flight costs a lot. There are direct flights with Alitalia operated by China Airline, with a duration of about 12-15 hours and a price hardly under €600.00(compare flights).

For a first approach to the city, especially if you are here as a stopover and it is your first time, we recommend opting for a private car tour.

As for accommodation, the city is very large and the most expensive area is near Taipei 101, in the more modern part, but in the neighbouring districts you can find good deals(compare accommodation on booking). The western part is the most traditional and old. The Zhongshan area is central and very convenient for getting around.
If you are looking for the nightlife stay in the Taipei 101 area, if you are travelling with children you might instead opt for Zhongshan or the western part of the city. Whichever area you choose, you will necessarily have to use the metro to get around- just walking is unthinkable.
